An Inside look into making the PROJECT

THE DRAWING BOARD

Dontcha really developed into the multi-layered performance experience that it is from a very simple concept; showcase the guitarist and the dancers simultaneously on film. Aj (Audio Coordinater), Dave (Guitarist) & myself were sitting in Aj’s garage choppin’ it up and we fell into the idea. We constructed a good plan and everyone had their jobs so the only thing left to do was execute!

The Dancers ( Fabiana, Emma, Jackie, & Saige) really worked exceptionally well. They really

One of the more interesting moments I experienced during this project was seeing how the dancing and the guitar came together at our first joint rehearsal. It really was incredible to hear what Dave was playing and seeing the dancers react to it. I looked at Aj as we did a run through. I told him we really had something cool. It was coming together.

Dancing Strings

The Dancers ( Fabiana, Emma, Jackie, & Saige) worked exceptionally well. The vibe they brought to the performance was the soulfull energy that is the secret sauce of the project. ORGANIZATION & PLANNING

Planning this really couldn’t have happened without a great team. So many different elements from producing the audio, to styling, to rehearsing. We had the skills to pull it off but we also learned a lot. Usually the visual aspects of a video is something I tend to focus on. However, this project really forced us to look closer at the audio. The dancers learned the choreography and in no time the pieces came together.

Wrap Up

Overall I had such a good time developing this project. The fact that I was able to work with many of my students and friends to create this is  what is most important to me. Bringing ideas  like this to life is a  skill I want to continue to develop. I cant wait to work with everyone again to make it happen. Now that you know some of the thought process behind it check out the video below! Enjoy.
